Question:

I wear a brace and it really does a number on my clothes. Am I eligible for additional VA benefits for this?

Answer:

You could be eligible for a VA clothing allowance. A VA clothing allowance is an annual lump-sum payment that is made when a veterans service-connected disability causes the use of certain prosthetic or orthopedic appliances (including a wheelchair) that tend to wear or tear clothing. A clothing allowance would also be available where the use of medications such as creams or salves for a service-connected disability stain the veterans clothing.
