VetsFirst honored Congressman Al Green (D-TX) with the 2014 VetsFirst Congressional Bronze Star Award on Capitol Hill on June 24th.

The reception took place during the 3rd Annual United Spinal Association’s Roll on Capitol Hill, a legislative advocacy event that addresses issues that impact the health, independence and quality of life of individuals living with spinal cord injury or disease.

VetsFirst chose Congressman Green to receive this year’s award because of his efforts to ensure that veterans living with disabilities are able to return to and be a part of their communities.

During his time in Congress, Congressman Green has worked to honor the service of our nation’s veterans. Recently, he has worked diligently to pass the Housing Assistance for Veterans Act (HAVEN Act). The HAVEN Act would increase the ability of nonprofit organizations to assist disabled and low-income veterans with needed housing adaptations and home repairs.

VetsFirst helped to draft and has strongly advocated for this legislation.
