The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) has launched a toll-free National Caregiver Support Line. The support line 1-855-260-3274 is available Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. EST.

Individuals who call the support line will be able to speak with licensed clinical social workers who can answer questions and link callers to the Caregiver Support Coordinators stationed at VA Medical Centers. These coordinators can help locate assistance based on individual needs.

VetsFirst supports efforts to ensure that caregivers, including families and friends, have access to resources that will allow veterans with disabilities to live in and be a part of their communities.

VetsFirst urges the VA to improve caregiver supports and move forward on implementation of the full range of caregiver supports included in the Caregivers and Veterans Omnibus Health Services Act (Public Law 111-163), such as stipends for caregivers of OEF/OIF veterans who have serious injuries, including traumatic brain injuries.
