The VA has announced that it will expand its Program of Comprehensive Assistance for Family Caregivers (PCAFC) to include eligible veterans and family caregivers from earlier eras.

PCAFC provides caregivers of eligible veterans with financial assistance, education, health insurance, and more. While PCAFC had only been available to veterans who served on or after September 11, 2001, the expansion of this program means that it will now be available to eligible veterans who served after May 7, 1975, and before September 11, 2001.

Additionally, earlier this month, VA announced an interim final rule that would extend eligibility for PCAFC for legacy participants, legacy applicants, and their family caregivers by three years. Legacy Participants. Legacy participants, applicants, and their family caregivers are those who participated in PCAFC prior to October 1, 2020.
