Effective October 13, 2020, VA forms 24-0296 and 24-0296a are discontinued. Veterans who wish to update their direct deposit information with VA will need to either change their information using www.VA.gov or contact the VA National Call Center at 1-800-827-1000. If you are completing a new claim (original) you will need to attach a voided check to the VA Form 21-526 / 21-527 / 21-534. The VA is combating fraud issues, which is the reason for the drastic change. The VA will verify that the owner of the account is the one requesting the changes.
