United Spinal Association’s program VetsFirst, will host two free webinars in November on accessible housing for disabled vets and non-service connected disability pension benefits provided by the VA.
The first webinar Increasing Access to Accessible Housing for Disabled Veterans, will take a closer look at the programs that are available to assist veterans through VA with accessible housing.
The webinar will also focus on VetsFirst efforts in Washington, D.C. to provide additional help for disabled veterans, including those who may not currently be eligible for VA assistance, who need support in adapting their homes.
“Access to affordable, accessible housing is critical to ensuring disabled veterans are able to live independent lives in their communities,” said Heather Ansley, Esq., MSW, and Vice President of VetsFirst.
“The more veterans who are informed of their rights and the tools available to them the better. This will only help strengthen future policies,” she added.
The second webinar Non-Service-Connected Disability Pension Benefits, will be of great value to many veterans who have disabilities not related to their military service and want to know what monetary benefits are available to them from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).
The webinar will discuss how the VA provides a pension benefit to wartime veterans who are low-income and age 65 or older, or if under 65, are permanently and totally disabled. It will also focus on the basic eligibility criteria for VA pension and explain step-by-step how to apply for this monetary benefit.
