VA has developed VEText, an interactive mobile solution to remind veterans of upcoming appointments via text messaging. The goal is to offer veterans a quick and easy way to confirm and/or cancel appointments.

All enrolled veterans, with a cell phone number listed in their health record, are automatically enrolled in the program. For veterans wanting to participate, please make sure that your local VA Medical Center has your current phone number.

Veterans should receive their first text message reminder seven days before the scheduled VA appointment. A second text message reminder will be sent two days before the appointment. The timing of the reminders can and may vary by facility.

VEText works for VA healthcare appointments only, and the text messages do not currently replace the letters and automated phone calls a veteran already receives for appointment reminders. For more information, please visit VEText – Veterans Health Administration (va.gov).

Text messaging and data rates may apply.
