The COVID-19 pandemic has caused financial hardship for some Veterans. In April of 2020, VA suspended sending patient statements regarding copayments. VA will send patient statements again, beginning in January 2021.
We want to make sure you have the information you need to prepare.
Here’s what you need to know for January
You don’t have to make any payments until January 2021. In January, you will receive a patient statement that may include the total amount of any:
- New copay charges for medical care and prescriptions you received from April 6, 2020, through December 31, 2020.
- Unpaid copay charges for medical care and prescriptions you received before April 2020.
If you have questions about when to make payments to use your Health Savings Account (HSA) funds for 2020, please contact your HSA plan manager.
