Question:
I filed a claim for compensation over one year ago and I am still waiting for a decision. Can you tell me how long I am going to have to wait?
Answer:
The quick answer is “no” I can’t tell you how long it will take for VA to process your claim. The cold hard reality is that it is utterly impossible for you to obtain an accurate processing date on your claim. Not to mention claims processing times varies from VA regional office to regional office. I would suggest you take a look at VA’s Monday Morning Workload Report (MMWR) located at:
http://www.vba.va.gov/reports/mmwr/
The Monday Morning Reports are a compilation of work load indicators reported by Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA) field offices. VBA’s Office of Performance Analysis and Integrity is responsible for compiling these spreadsheets. Questions or comments should be e-mailed to VBA’s Office of Field Operations which is responsible for regional office management.
The regional offices are organized by four area offices: Eastern, Southern, Central and Western.
This will at least give you an idea of how long your claim could take and how your VA office compares to other VA offices.
